Going forward with the bankruptcy

Bill CollectorsThe calls to my job and home have increased. They’re getting cleverer on how they try to reach me. One company called the operator and asked them to walk to my desk and get me. All that got them was a no and it got me spoken to by my boss. The letters are becoming more demanding and honestly scaring my wife.

Neither of us ever wanted this to happen. We’re devastated by the fact that we’re about to go through this. We’re embarrassed and dread the day that we might have to discuss credit in front of any of our families. How could these people think that the constant harassment will get them paid quicker? So good job, my wife is crying again. I couldn’t sleep that well last night. You’re still not getting the money. I still don’t have it. I wish I did. I do however have the $500 the attorney asked for, to begin the proceedings.

So… it’s happening. I’ve made the call to the attorney to begin the proceedings. We have $500 that we’re prepared to pay him. I’ve made my spreadsheets with my income for the past 6 months, my wife has neatly organized all of our debt, even old telephone bills from when I was a bachelor and living in the college dorm.

As I wrote in one of my goals for 2008, I wanted to finish and get the bankruptcy behind us, by the end of May. No real reason for it. I just wanted to try and enjoy my kids at the beach this summer and not have to sit with my laptop working over the weekends.

Ultimately this is going to be hard for you and your family, for the next few months. Once it’s done though, it will feel like a ton has been removed from your backs. Good luck
